Black and White

“Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected.” - Robert Frank

What's not to like about black and white photography? Despite all the benefits of modern digital imaging - the awesome resolution and colour fidelity - it's just magical to see how a good image becomes a great one when it's reduced to 8-bit black and white. Sometimes it seems that the pioneers of photochemical image making had fewer distractions when their palette was black and white and shades of grey. I love colour, but I adore black and white.
